Another gloriously hot day with not much going on. Bit of shopping, gardening, lounging around in the swimming pool then watched the Aussies get thumped by Sri Lanka in the cricket one day tournament on the T V.

Coffee at Clifton Beach shopping mall with Allen and Glyn, it doesn’t get any more exciting. Taken to watching a sort of brit channel on T V, Heartbeat and episodes of Dad’s Army we’ve never seen before. Stumpy is counting the days to plaster removal, only 2 more weeks until fracture clinic. Starting to think about where we want to go when we eventually gat back on the road, ages yet.

Usual chores today plus some as we have guests arriving on Sunday. Three of the units will be occupied for a week so at least there will be different faces around the place for a short while. After that it’s back to being billy-no mates again!

Our daily routine must come across as really boring right now and I suppose it is, but we were well aware of how life would be in the tropics in the wet. Although this year hasn’t had it’s usual amount of rain ( so far) we have had enough to keep us confined to barracks. Old stumpy is paranoid about getting her leg iron wet. I understood that was because it might disintegrate, but no, if it gets wet it smells, so I am told. We don’t go anywhere without a bin liner these days. Us two and the bin bag caught the courtesy bus to Centrals for a few beers and a meal. Excellent value then we came home for more beers on the patio waiting for the rain, curlews, kangaroos and anything else that might happen by.

All that tech stuff on the internet is a great way to keep in touch with people at the top end of the world. Skype is part of it and a two way thing. That’s fine except for the 10 hour time difference when trying to hold a sensible conversation with people who enjoy a drink or two. At 8 o’clock in the morning we are just shaking off the last nights excesses when the shiny thing tells us someone wants to talk to us from the U K. …….it’s 10 o’clock there and they have been ‘on it’. The chat becomes very one sided. This morning I wandered off during a skype session for 5 minutes and they didn’t know I’d gone! Tonight we got our own back, we’d been ‘on it’ for a good few hours (10 to be exact) and skyped the Faulkners at midday their time. It’s a draw1-1 so far and not a lot of information has been exchanged.
We spent most of the afternoon at Yorkeys Knob Boat Club where we have made friends with a couple of blokes who are pals of my brother. The chat is probably as non productive as the skype session but at least it’s in the same time zone!!

We now have guests for a week, they arrived at lunchtime. It’s strange in a way, our solitude has gone and yet again someone has invade our space.
I did a solo run to the boat club for a few beers with my brother and his pals this arvo, all good fun. Later watched T V , something we don’t do much of, as we had read about the documentary Great Barrier Reef being shown so we tuned in. Thoroughly recommended. Having dived some of it, it brought back happy memories.
