A quiet week

 22/02/2012
Another mundane day though the weather has behaved itself and we are back to blue skies, and wall to wall sunshine. They forecast the usual 31c chance of a shower, rubbish, anyone can do that!
We are truly Billy-no-mates now, no-one in the units, we took Gavin, the caretakers caretaker to the airport first thing and he’s on his way back to Melbourne. There aren’t any guest booked in until the middle of March and half our pals are elsewhere. Glyn and Alana in Borneo, Allen in PerthWe consoled ourselves by shovelling the leg iron into the van and drove to Apres at Palm Cove for a couple of schooners.

Mowing! It must be Thursday, or is it Friday…….? Who knows Took Stumpy up to Clifton Pathology, she had to have a blood test. After giving a thimbleful they strapped her arm up and told her not to put pressure on it. Obviously didn’t notice she’s on crutches!

More grass cutting, it’s so hot now I have decided to spread it out over 2 days The forecasters still give out the same old guff  31c and chance of a shower when we know it’s a lot hotter than that. Even the locals are moaning about the heat. The humidity is also very high anything between 60% and 100%. Nothing for it but to phone the courtesy bus for Centrals Rugby club to take us for a few cold ones with Frank and Julie. Very nice takeaway pizza.

Confused of Clifton here! Got up early to fire up the valves on the shiny thing so as to find out the weekends 6 Nations rugby results and couldn’t find any info at all. Then it dawned on me, I am a day too early………….. they must put something in the beer at Centrals!
A hot humid, rainy day today giving us a good reason to sort Bali photos and send to whoever is interested.  They will be doubly interested as Stumpy sent the same photos twice, that Centrals beer has a lot to answer for.
As there wasn’t a lot happening we called for the courtesy bus for Yorkeys Knob boat club and spent a pleasant couple of hours there. We sat on the deck overlooking  the marina ( some of these yachts never move) watching rainstorms all around us.  We met my brother Steve for a couple of minutes, he was on his way home as we got off the bus at the club. We made a date to meet him tomorrow at lunchtime.

Using the courtesy buses of the 2 clubs that we like are a good way of seeing the suburbs of Cairns and the Northern beaches, places we wouldn’t drive through without a reason.  O K they are mainly residential estates but worth looking at  as they mix and match expensive dwellings with  others not so expensive. Whatever the price tag they all seem very well cared for.
We called the bus to take us to the boat club so we could have a schooner or two with my brother Steve, that’s what we do on a Sunday Arvo…….go to the pub!
The Riley luck held out again as we won a tray of oysters  and prawns in the lunchtime fish raffle. The oysters never saw the inside of our fridge!
Around 5.30 our buddies Allen and Lorraine came around for drinks and nibbles. Allen had managed to get away from Perth earlier than expected.
