Mon 10 August… Thank goodness our bag was handed into the ferry office, but when we checked it there was only one mobile phone. Suddenly the other one mysteriously appeared out of the Navigators handbag where it had been all the time!! There were 2 voicemails on it, from the ferry office sent yesterday afternoon to say that they had our bag. Peter was not amused.
We had to take the van in to get the suspension repaired first thing, only to be told that they hadn’t got the correct parts and we will have to take it to a Mercedes garage. There is one in Rockhampton they told us. Luckily we are heading that way so after an easy run up we called into the Rocky Tourist Info place to find out where it was. After our visit to the garage, we have to go back tomorrow for them to assess it. We are staying near Yeppoon, 40 K’s away and it looks to be a very nice place, so depending what the people at the garage say tomorrow, will determine how long we stay here. The van park is excellent, except our 2 vans are not together, it’s not a problem, but it’s nice to be closer. (And our van is closer to the amenities!)We are fairly close to the sea and by the side of a lake, but we are not sure yet whether we can walk to the beach or have to drive.
Crossed the tropic of Capricorn today and it tried to rain, but cleared quickly and been fine and sunny this afternoon.
