Sun 9 August… Last night dinner had to be seen to be believed. It was a help yourself buffet of sea food with an alternative for non seafood lovers which we didn’t even look at! There was a mountain of the finest oysters and mountains of every other seafood you could imagine. Lobsters, Moreton Bay Bugs, Langoustines, Mud Crabs and Sand Crabs, prawns (peeled and unpeeled) by the million, New Zealand Green lipped Mussels, and smoked salmon to die for! It was incredible and as fast as the mountains started to diminish, they were topped up and you could go round as many times as you wanted. Heaven!!
So, today, we had to leave the Island, after a few unforgettable days. Breakfast was followed by sunbathing, then after paying our monumental bar bill, a few more photos before lunch. Then it was onto the catamaran for the 2 hour crossing, which somehow took two and a half hours. The journey back to Gladstone was a lot calmer and nobody was sick. We are booked into Barney Beach van park again and on arrival whilst sorting out our dive gear and luggage we discovered we had left our documents bag on the jetty at Gladstone Harbour. It has all our important stuff in it, passports, vehicles reggo documents, nearly a £1000 of dive computers, mobile phones and travel blog----------everything! We are hoping and praying it has been handed into the ferry office, which was closed when the lady at the camp tried to ring them for us. Just when everything seems to b going swimmingly something jumps up and bites you in the bum!
