Sat 15 August… Another biggish jump south again today to the popular resort of Hervey Bay which is a lot larger than we thought, it’s a job to know when it’s a dot on the map. We travelled nearly 300K’s through forestry, acres and acres of sugar cane, lots of citrus and a big patch of pineapple. There was a roadside stall with piles of pineapples all neatly stacked we’ve never seen so many. This is also peanut growing country and we stopped at Childers at a peanut van. Flavoured peanuts of every description…….garlic, chilli, Mexican and the ones the navigator liked best were honey and ginger.
At our campsite we have the luxury of an en suite site only because that’s all that was left after Vanessa took the last powered site. Still, we can rough it for 2 nights. This camp has free WiFi but it only works when you stand on one leg in the camp kitchen, which is nowhere near our super duper en suite site.
