Emu Park Beach

…Wed 12 Aug… After spending all day yesterday wandering around Rocky we haven’t really seen anything of the Yeppoon area and we are moving on tomorrow. A few k’s south of us is Emu Park which is actually a town and not a park and its got a nice beach. The beach looks out to the Keppel Islands so we stopped to have a look and stayed all day. We had the beach more or less to ourselves and we were in and out of the sea though there wasn’t a lot of surf. We had a look at a sculpture overlooking the bay which commemorates Captain Cooks visit to the area in 1770. The sculpture is called the Singing Ship (photos to follow)and looks like the bow and sails of a ship. It has holes drilled through and as the wind blows it makes a noise that sounds like singing. ….so there you are ….a singing sculpture! There is also a sundial there and when we checked the time it was VB time so we came home.
