Hamish

Sat 11 July… We are having a day out with Hamish today but P can’t find any socks! He’s not needed any for months! So, we walk into town first to a sock shop. Hamish picked us up at 12 15 to take us to a pub in the small town of Nundle for lunch. It’s a lovely day, warm sunshine but hot----- it’s not. We stopped at a local beauty spot called Chaffey Dam, a big reservoir, which has good fishing. The dam is just below the hills of the great dividing range and is very picturesque ( pictures to follow) Nundle is a typical Hillbilly Oz town and the Peel Inn is the main attraction. We are quite high up and they say it has been known to snow up here, it certainly is very fresh, though we did sit out on a lovely terrace albeit still wearing our fleeces. For lunch we are joined by a few of Hamish’s close friends, nice people and we now have a contact in Cairns as that is where a couple of them live. After lunch Hamish took us further up the hill to a really spectacular lookout called Hanging Rock. Took some photo’s but they were into the sun so they may not come out. We then drove back to Tamworth to Hamish’s house and met Dram, his lovely, bouncy Scots terrier and Jack the cat, Hamish has as much control over Dram as we expected. It seemed a long time since lunch and so we went off to a more local pub for our evening meal, who’sh name eshcapes us! This pub had roaring log fires, something we never thought we would see a couple of weeks ago. The temp is forecast to go down to zero tonight, that’s why we needed the socks!
