Bowen

Wed 1 July… After a couple of attempts we finally find our way out of Townsville but not before doing a good deal on a couple of cases of cleanskins Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. We are heading for a place called Bowen which is just north of the Whitsunday Islands. It’s obviously a popular place, so after not being able to get into our first choice camp yesterday we phoned ahead to book a spot on a site in Bowen with WiFi. It was full up and is full for the next 6 weeks! We phoned another site and they have space but it’s a good way out of town. We take it as they also claim to have WiFi.
The countryside is changing slowly as we drive south, we are more or less out of the sugar cane belt and into mango country. They also grow tomatoes by the acre.
Here in Bowen the site we are on is fine it’s fairly quiet with little traffic noise and the internet works, though slowly, so now we will spend most of the evening doing the blog, photos and catching up with emails.
