Arriving in Sydney
Tues 14 July… The last leg of the dash to Sydney is done. We are booked into our site for a week and have a cabin booked for Vanessa and the boys, for when they arrive on Friday. This is as close as we can get to central Sydney and the airport, we will have to commute from now on. That will test the Navigators skills!! They say Sydney is worse than London for traffic. The journey down from Lake Macquarie was all motorway and quite busy, which was a pity as the scenery was spectacular in between the manmade gorges. The road has been hewn through mountains of solid rock which go on for several miles. A terrific feat of engineering. When there weren’t towering rock faces either side we could see out west towards the Blue Mountains- in the distance, and towards the ocean to the east. Mostly, the pilot though was having to contend with huge heavy goods vehicles overtaking at God knows what speed. Now that we have made it safely we can’t wait to get out!
