Thurs 23 April…..At the moment the weather here in Katherine is just super. Days are hot and sunny, around 34 and at night the temperature plummets to 22 or 23! The navigator is talking about reinstating the dooner ( duvet), even the fridge has started behaving itself. It actually shuts down occasionally now that nightime temperatures are lower. Peter says he would rather sleep with the cane toads outside than with a duvet. He knows what he can do!!
We spent most of the morning messing around on the computer selecting photos and stuff then went into town. The mission today is to buy a better jack, and we found super duper hydraulic jack for 40 bucks. (Made in China) and we are now confident that we will be able to cope better next time we have a puncture. We are also stocked up ready for the next few days drive across the top of the dessert to Broome. They say it’s a dusty old drive but we have plenty of fluids on board. We had lunch in town, unremarkable apart from having chips. Every so often I get a craving for chips, as our diet is rather virtuous! Then back for a swim, a read of the International Express, ( which is usually deeply depressing) though there was an article about Rebecca Fossett and a baby camel in the Horseshoe in Shipston! Tea of kebabs, sweet potato and bokchoy then more computerating. We are not sure when we will next have access to the Internet.
