Boxing Day

No hunting for us this year, unless it's hunt the weather man! Forecast was best day of the week, 30 degrees plus, so we spend the first half hour of the day rubbing in the suncream( all over our bronzed bodies!)----------then it rained! Not much but enough to change our minds about going on the beach and went for a walk along the riverbank instead into town. Back at the van lazed about reading the papers ( and Maeve Binchy) waiting for the sun to come out.We did try on the beach and roasted for about 15 minutes and then the sky turned black and it was perishing, comparatively. Rained hard at 6, then sun came out at 7 just before it went dark. The camp is already filling up with Melbourne escapees.
Took the Christmas decoration down.
Sat 27. Escape from Aussnatraz. As we pack up to go the Melbournian hoards descend. Anglesea was really a very nice town, but it just got very full and we imagine by evening there won't be a square meter of land at the camp site not covered by a caravan, motor home, tent, canopy or swag. Already there are queues for the amenities, and Peter reckons there will be a position for Escape Officer by the end of the week.
On our drive up to Melbourne It is obvious the city is on the move, fortunately in the opposite direction to us. An uneventful journey, tho we were intrigued by a road sign stating we must "control serrated tussock"-------OOOOKKKKay.After a couple of navigational slip ups we arrive at Apollo Gardens Caravan Park, Melbourne. A transit camp, surrounded by an industrial estate "excellent facilities, and convenient for the airport".Not very busy here everybody is in Anglesea.
We realise we haven't done all our homework on New Zealand so if anybody has any "must sees" or "must dos" please let us know.
