This time last year things were beginning to quieten down with the holiday season over and the majority of southerners going back home. Not so this year, no cyclone threat, the weather down south is still crap and Far North Queensland is the best place to view the solar eclipse which is in 15 days time. The media as usual are hyping it up, but I suppose it is good for business. Once we have been eclipsed I expect everyone will bugger off home.
We have spent the day doing retail therapy ( no idea why we call it therapy as we both hate it!) We have replaced some of the clothes that mysteriously shrunk while we were travelling in N S W. We didn’t quite finish the job as we got fed up.
I now have more drops and medication to try and clear up my ear infection as we were lucky enough to get straight in to see a doctor this morning.
We also re-acquainted ourselves with Yorkeys Knob Boat club where we met up with brother Stephen and his wife Charlotte. A couple of other friends we often see there are away at the moment, we will catch up with them eventually. It’s all good right now.

Friday night is Centrals night, that’s the rugby club that provides free transport there and back again and where we usually meet up with Frank and Julie. No change there then as we had a catch up session and a takeaway pizza later.
We chatted about our house swap plans which are proving to be a bit complicated, no problem with us but Julie seems to have a different agenda.
We have had a nice quiet day doing odd jobs. I actually started to clean the van but got fed up halfway through, so one side is clean and the other isn’t, I might finish it tomorrow. Can’t understand the fascination for cleaning cars that some blokes have. Besides it’s too hot for doing anything strenuous, 32 degrees every day dropping to 20 at night, it’s like sleeping in an oven. We may have to fire up the air conditioner.

Another day spent trying to keep cool in the pool waiting for the evening.
Today is Lorraine Macnamaras 60th birthday so we gathered at their house for a party meeting up with more friends that we haven’t seen for a while. We had a lovely time finally getting to bed around 3am.
The Macnamaras still don’t know exactly when they are going away which is making planning a little difficult, as, we have been asked to house sit another property around the same time. That house is on the side of the range looking out toward Double island and Palm Cove. It’s a beautiful house. We are also looking after the holiday units here for a week in December. It’s all getting a little complicated.

Going to bed so late doesn’t agree with us we have decided, nothing to do with the drink you must understand, but we were sluggish getting started today. We pottered about for a couple of hours before phoning for the courtesy bus which takes us to the boat club. A few beers with my brother and a couple of the boys, and we were feeling a bit more normal.
Back at Clifton we picked up a traveller and wandered over to the beach to sit and look out over the ocean to Double Island and Scout Hat Island. It has to be one of the most beautiful places to just sit and look. We love it.
