Roast dinner with gravy!!

29/03/2012
Thursdays, generally, are ordinary days, I cut the grass and get knackered then bumble about doing odds and sods. Today we did that then phoned for the bus to take us to the boat club for a couple of schooners with my brother, then as we were invited, caught the bus to Steve and Charlottes house for an evening meal. First real roast meal in nearly a year, you wouldn’t believe how good……..with gravy too…..an anathema to Stumpy! Dinner over we caught the bus back to the boat club where we won a couple of kilos of prime beef steak in the raffle, then a free lift home! How good can it get?

“ There is an autumnal chill in the air this morning” so said the newsreader on the radio first thing. The temperature dropped to 22C at 5am! What a joke!
We have had a sort of a bird day today. Firstly a beautiful Little Kingfisher, the smallest of all the kingfishers, trying to take a short cut through our unit. Unfortunately it chose the glazed side of the window to fly through and broke it’s neck, so we buried it. Later we had a flock of Rainbow Bee-eaters using the pool as their own private plunge pool, sweeping down for a quick dunk in the water, flying off without stopping then they sit in the gum trees having a preen. It went on for half an hour, lovely to watch.
Friday night is Centrals night and tonight we met up with Paul and Frank for a few cold ones and a natter. Luckily we didn’t have the winning ticket in the meat raffle as we are over beefed right now. Anyway we are saving ourselves for the 13 million dollar lottery at the weekend, then after we win we will buy a large chunk of Queensland.
