Stress!!

 05/02/2012
The caretakers’ caretaker, caretaker arrived today, Gavin from Melbourne, flew in first thing to look after the place while we are in Bali. Jane (I’ve seen a 3 toed sloth move faster) managed to change our return flights from Bali again for a ridiculous amount of money, seeing as it is all done on line. We will only be there for 7 days.
Old stumpy just sits about all day complaining her arms ache due to the crutches, me, I do everything around here, there will be a payback! (He’s forgotten his back, hand, gout, knee, toe!!) We even had to move the venue of Matildas, the beach being too far to hop, so we had it around the BBQ, all of 20m closer. Still no feedback from the shooting section.

All in all a very stressful day. We leave for Bali at 4am tomorrow morning and last minute jobs seemed to multiply as the day went on. We need the exact amount of $ U S for our entry visa into Bali as generally no change is given at Denpassar airport. We need $25 US each but only have $100 notes. You would think it would be easy to walk into a bank, here in Australia, and change a $100 note into smaller denomination notes. Well I can tell you it is impossible. I tried 3 different banks and a money changer kiosk. One bank said there would be an $8 fee, then only if I had proof off I D, another said it was illegal(!), another hadn’t got any US dollars and the money changer said that’s not what they do!
All the return flights are altered now, again, and the charges for the alteration have probably cost more than the original ticket. Wheelchair assistance for old Stumpy has also been arranged  (nightmare also, holding the line for ever) except for the first flight out of Cairns. We phoned a Cairns company who sell waterproof covers for plaster casts online, and the message was that they don’t answer the phone during office hours!! We left an email message as well and fortunately they did get in touch. Eventually we set of into Cairns again at 4 30 to pick it up.
Our caretaker decided he needed to chat for about 2 hours on how easy it was to do this job while we are away. We ate at 9 30, bed at 11pm, 5 hours sleep.
