Delivered the van to the garage for a service and just as any garage anywhere, what do you get for your money? Lift the bonnet and it looks like the mice that live there haven’t been disturbed. They did paint the tyres a nice shiny black though! Never had shiny tyres before!
I have decided to apply for the job of a Cairns weatherman. As far as I can tell all you do is phone the local paper, tell them the weather for the next day will be 31C, chance of a shower or two, maybe a storm later, and then go home. You can do that 7 days a week and sometimes you get it right. I can do that!

We are just about getting our Bali heads on, we fly out next Tuesday at stupid o’clock in the morning. Today we went holiday shopping which didn’t amount to much as we leave the tropics of Australia for the tropics of Indonesia, just up the road. We need new shorts and swimmers and toothpaste, we travel light! We changed $100 into Indonesian Rupiah, and suddenly we became millionaires. We also need $US which grieves me as the Indonesians love them. For $100 Australian you get $102 US, so what’s all the crap about American loot, oddly they weren’t interested in the Euro.
More retail therapy at Bunnings ( deep joy) for important things required for the units. You wouldn’t believe how much excitement there is to be had from choosing a mop head and furniture castors, ( more joy) . Later we went to Centrals Rugby Club for tea, a very nice meal for a very nice price. We are members now. Much nicer than the lunch we had in Cairns. We tried a Japanese outlet in the Mall, the polystyrene tray probably would have tasted better!

A day for odd jobs after coffee at Clifton with Alan, Allen and Cynthia. Just a few minor repairs in a couple of the units and a bit of gardening. It’s been an overcast day making it much easier to do gardening and general garden maintenance, though the humidity is over 90 % most days. You just sweat and that’s it, even the locals complain when it gets humid. Joan popped round to say that they are going south for a couple of weeks , probably to get away from this humidity. Glyn and Alana called around and thank goodness, had a beer. They are still dieting but not so seriously, welcome back we say!

The second of February means the game shooting season finished yesterday and I haven’t got a clue what happened over the last 5 months. I really thought somebody might have filled me in on what’s been going on. Did Foxcote shoot this year or did it finish as the wild rumours predicted last winter? How did the Allotments shoot get on? What sort of a year did Berryfields have? Did anyone go to mull this year, and if so, who? Anyone know how they got on at Honington (Wiggies) and Ettington? Anybody got new dogs……..?
I think I have enabled comments at last! J
