It’s Julies turn to polish the turtles in the rehab and release centre here in Cairns, so Jane went along to help, she is now a qualified turtle polisher. I stayed behind to keep my eye on the pool.
Mexican night went down quite well at Alan and Lorraines, some of us making the effort to dress up. Paul, who does accents very well, looked the part and his Speedy Gonzales accent was a hoot. Julie looked for all the world like Cher, while Phil, who had his hair, eyebrows and moustache jet black, didn’t look anything like Sonny. More like a Marx Brother. Frank looked more like Emperor Nero than a Mexican peasant. My moustache kept falling off and was interfering with the drink and my sombrero was giving me a headache while Jane looked really good in a peasant skirt and a flower in her head. We had some Mexican snatchos or whatever they call them, and some empa----thingies, small Mexican pasties! Party finished late.

Very tired this morning, must have been the snatchews. In recovery position most of the morning, lying about in the pool, then a quick trip for essential supplies, followed by lunch at Trinity Beach Tavern.
The Christmas fairy light have gone up round the pool and we have put our tree up in the unit, it’s a blow up palm tree! Very tasteful! We can’t get into the Christmas spirit just yet, it isn’t the same in this heat.

The plan for today was to go out and buy some Chrissy decorations for the unit, a bit of tinsel, fairy lights, stuff like that. Our blow up palm/ Christmas tree won’t stand a lot of decorating so will have to do as it is. We went to K-Mart ( similar to Matalan) they sell everything……..we came out with a pair of board shorts and a bra! Must try harder next time. They are selling flannelette Father Christmas suits complete with F C woollen bobble hat………..it’s 32 degrees for goodness sake!!
Another quiet night in.
