Temperature approached 40C today, the hottest day of the summer so far.
I went with Phil and a few of the boys for morning coffee at the café in the shopping mall, blokes do that here. We sat in air conditioning but every time the automatic door to the mall opened we got a blast of hot air. How odd is that.
Jane and I are lottery winners,$21.90 to be precise, it just covered the cost of our Christmas decorations! We have actually got some, just got to hang them now which is a job for a wet Sunday afternoon.
Jane in the pool at 10pm cooling off.

Grass cutting and general tidying up day with Phil and myself sharing the job. It’s all done by lunchtime.
Another friend of the Dunns , Paul McNamara took us to look at a couple of holiday units he owns in Palm Cove. Verry nice! Anybody fancy a holiday in the Far North?
Another beautiful day, with hardly a cloud in the sky, though they do keep threatening us with thunder storms. We reckon they just say that to keep us on our toes, no talk of cyclones thank goodness.

Another day of not doing a lot, just a bit of shopping for essential supplies. We seem to be at Dan Murphys’ bottle shop nearly every other day! We’ll be on first name terms with the staff soon.
I went with Phil, Frank, Paul and Glyn for a few beers at the rugby club about 5 o’clock, then everyone back here to Clifton for BBQ ‘til late.

The units here have been empty for the last few weeks but today we had guests arriving. They have come down from Darwin to escape the heat for a week……..what a joke! It must be bloody hot up there!
We took a walk up to Palm Cove for a couple of beers at Apres , having intended a quiet night in, as Phil and Julie are out at a Christmas party. It all went pear shaped when Glyn and Alana invited us to dinner at their place, Phil and Julie coming along later. We had a lovely meal, on their balcony, then, when the others arrived we cooled off in the pool with Bill (Glyns little dog who loves to swim). We staggered home at 2am! Completely missed the total eclipse of the moon!

Didn’t surface until late morning!
It must have been very windy during the night as we spent an hour or more picking debris out of the pool and generally tidying up.
We had talked about going into Cairns for an outdoor carol service, but it was a non starter as we are all feeling a bit fragile! Definitely a quiet night in tonight.
It has been extremely hot these last few days and no sign of any rain, so hot we have finally given in and turned the air-con on.
