Well, we won’t be missing the chat, banter and general bonhomie of Camp Benidorm, in the 7 nights we have spent there, the only people who spoke to me were a couple from Liverpool. …Camp Benidorm was one of those places!
We have moved back down to Palm Grove Caravan Park, and have decided to bite the bullet and stay here for a week. We have phoned H S B C (Glasgow) again and got a stay of execution, meaning we are exempt gismos for a further 30 days. Palm Grove is cheaper than Camp Benidorm and has much better facilities including a nice pool. It is also within walking distance of Cable Beach and the Divers Tavern, unfortunately it is very noisy.

Because we are in a state of flux we are constantly changing our plans trying to work out where we want to be at certain times. I would love to be in Cooktown, Northern Queensland for their annual hog hunt in early October, just over a months time and a little matter of over 4,000 kilometres away. Also the Rugby World Cup is a priority as we would both like to see as much of it as possible on TV during Sept and Oct. Outback Australia is not the place to be, where communications are limited. So it is looking like a couple of tours here in the Kimberley which we really want to do, then a mad dash across Northern Australia to Queensland, and in particular Cairns, where we know we will be able to watch many of the games. That’s sort of a plan but who knows it may all change tomorrow

One thing about Palm Grove, they like to keep you on the move. After 2 nights on site 36 we have been moved to site 100, then tomorrow we move to another site which is a secret at present.
By far the hottest day since we arrived, 36/37C never got past the pool.

Now we are on the noisiest site ever, just a constant din from road noise (we are on the corner of 2 main roads and a bus route) next to us is a shop which has some kind of engine running their refrigeration unit and if we were any closer to the Divers Tavern, we would be on the staff. Where ever you are in Broome you are under the flight path, but we are used to that now. It quietens down after dark, then the live band strikes up in the pub.
Please Australia Post, give us our gismos so that we can move on!

There is a God and he works for Australia Post. The gismos have arrived so we can get on our way. We leave the day after next, so tomorrow will be a shopping day, stocking up until we reach the next big town.
Yesterday, from our select spot (in amongst 100’s) on Cable Beach we watched a 3 masted Tall Ship sail towards Broome Port. It was the replica of Captain Cooks ship, The Endeavour , a magnificent sight on it’s way down to Freemantle after a round the world trip. Unfortunately it only stayed overnight so we didn’t get a closer look.

Our next door neighbours left this morning, a friendly couple we got to know, but sods laww, they are going in the opposite direction to us. We had drinks with them last night and could just about hear one another above the general racket that is this part of Broome. They told us that they stayed at Monks Barn a few years ago whilst on a touring holiday of the U K, they probably had a beer in the Hart they said.
We had our last play in the surf at Cable Beach this afternoon as probably we won’t see the sea again until we reach the east coast at Queensland in about a months time.
We have complained a bit about Broome and events that have happened but overall it is a super place. The tourist brochure is called The Colours of Broome and that sums the place up. Turquoise sea, white sand contrasting against red rock and desert and a very colourful old town. We shall miss it.
