Bad back (bloody Abbo curse) having to take anti inflammatory and pain killers. Still, at least the liver is still intact!
Caught the train to Freemantle and spent the day sightseeing and visiting more places of interest. We watched a street performer going through his routine. They are a joy to watch and very funny. This guy was juggling a hand grenade, a running chainsaw and a large blade like a scimitar! Then he lay down on a bed of nails whilst a woman out of the crowd balanced on his chest. You should have seen his back afterwards, it made Peters feel much better!
It’s our wedding anniversary today so we commiserated with one another over a very ordinary, but expensive Indian, about £73 for what would have been £20 in the UK. This was after having spent goodness know how much at Little Creatures pub in Freeo, where we chatted to a very nice couple, locals.

It’s Sunday and it’s possible to have a lie in as it’s not too noisy. I forgot to mention our shabby little apartment is situated fairly close to the centre of town, but even closer to the main freeway, like about 50m away. During normal working days the traffic noise is deafening and it is impossible to have the windows open. It’s a beautiful day and quite warm so we decided to walk to Kings Park which is at the top of a VERY steep hill behind our apartment. There are several War memorials and tributes to famous Australians, kept immaculately, as is the whole park. We forgot the camera and so will have to come back at a later stage. Wandered down to the Swan River and Barrack Street jetty, had a beer, walked up to town for dinner at the Moon and Sixpence. Great steak!!

Back up the hill to Kings Park, this time with the camera. The views over the Swan River and the city are truly spectacular. In the park we were reminded of the bird life and in particular the colourful parrots including the oddly named Eighteen Twenty Parrot, then there are the lorikeets and currawongs that chortle and chuckle, seemingly wanting to have a conversation. All stuff we remember from 08/09.
Into town for a bit of retail therapy but buying summer clothes is not easy as we approach winter. It’s odd to see locals dressed up in overcoats and scarves because winter is coming on. …….it’s still 20C plus!!
