Sun 25 October… Rotten day spent most of it packing with time out to go for a quick dip to cool down. Later went with Phil and Julie by courtesy bus to a pub in Redlynch then back to Lake Placid for more booze to finish off the evening All our livers should be very pleased that we are leaving Lake Placid!!

Mon 26 October… After 13 months on the road we are now without wheels. We delivered the van to a bloke in Cairns who will look after it until someone arrives from Perth to take it back. George the Grilla and our fold up table have gone to a good home, Phil and Julie wanted them. Our bedding and mattress ended up in a skip, most of our books we gave away to other people at Lake Placid. Other stuff like kitchenware etc we took to the pawnbroker/cash converter and got the princely sum of 70 bucks for the lot! So now, we are settled in to our hotel in Cairns with our bags and memories. We travelled over39,000Ks in the van and visited every state except Tasmania, one day we may work how much diesel we used! We visited every major city and hundreds of not so major towns and cities. We have seen all the Aussie icons (nearly) and met some very interesting people. We have also met lots of very kind people who have stopped to help us when we had a problem. Aussies always go the extra mile to help you. It’s been a trip of a lifetime and we can’t wait to do it again!!
