Tues 1 September… Well, that’s it. The worst is over and it’s the first day of spring. We have toughed out the winter! Don’t know how we have coped!!
Woodgate Beach has to go down as one of the quietest parks we have ever been on. Last night was like the proverbial grave. We are only 2 minutes walk to the beach but as there is no surf we cannot hear the sea. There aren’t too many lights on this park so everyone took to their beds early, and there in no road noise as Woodgate is one of those places you don’t drive through, you only drive to. The absolute silence in the middle of the night was lovely.
There is a boardwalk at the back of the camp which goes off into the forest so first thing we went to have a look. The forest has recently been back burned and as yet there is no regeneration, we saw very little wildlife, in fact all we saw were gum trees. Stringybark and paperbark. No photos taken. Bored rigid we decided to wash the van, because you can here. They have a good supply of bore water and it hasn’t been cleaned since the 28 May. That would never do living on an estate. Needless to say that took some time which left us with one thing left to do-------adjourn to the beach for the rest of the day!
