Return to Townville the third time!

Fri 11 September… After nearly a week in the bush we have arrived at the coast in tropical Townsville, where there is a nice breeze by the sea, a midday temp of 30 degrees and not a lot of humidity. The drive from Charters Towers was uneventful but nice to see the range of hills covered in rain forest as we approached Townsville. After a quick stop at the Mall we drove directly to the sea front and had our lunch looking out towards Magnetic Island across a beautiful blue sea. We took a stroll along the Prom, or the Strand as it is called here just taking in the sights. From our time here before we know of a splendid cut price booze outlet so we couldn’t drive past on our way to the camp sight without stopping, to buy some good quality, cheap cleanskins. At the camp we spent an hour chatting to an old boy who emigrated here in the 70’s from Derbyshire, Matlock we think. No doubt we will speak again as we are here for 2 nights.
