North to Tully
Mon 14 September… We managed to fire up the shiny thing last night, it was very slow but it worked. The vagaries of Aussie I T! So we have left Townsville probably never to return, that was our third visit and we reckon we have seen the most of it. Moving north 200K’s to Tully Heads another place we have stayed before and obviously enjoyed. It’s very rural and just 5 mins away from the beach. We are surrounded by sugar cane and banana plantations which are the main crops, though there are other farms that grow other stuff such as pineapple, mango, oranges, and paw paw which we had not seen growing before.. You name it it is grown in Queensland. On the way up to Tully we stopped at a coffee shop cum gift shop called the Frosty Mango. The also grow and sell all manner of tropical fruits that we have never heard of plus some exotic fruits we had heard of but never tried. Photos to follow!! A few K’s before Tully is a sign for the Murray Falls a detour of 44K’s round trip that looked interesting. Iy was well worth it. Although there is not a great lot of water in the river, what there was was gin clear, ice cold and deep enough to swim in. Not only that, there was hardly anyone there. We were a bit pushed for time as we had to book in here at Tully so we didn’t manage a swim which basically means the Navigator chickened out! Anyway we think it is worth a return visit before we get much further north, and we needn’t have worried about booking in here as the place is half empty.

Poor henpecked navigator..blamed for everything !! If it wasn't for the the navigator you might have taken a wrong turn and ended up in New Guinea or New Zealand..though being very observant you probably would have noticed the waves lapping the shiny thing.Keep up the news and photos.
