Mossman Gorge

Sunday 27 September… We wonder if it is possible to overdose on gorges and swimming holes so we put it to the test and visited yet another this morning-------Mossman Gorge. We have seen our fair share and they are all different in their own way. Mossman Gorge is equally spectacular with plenty of good lookout points from a boardwalk above the gorge and not too difficult access to the swimming hole. We had done the walk and taken the photos, along with lots of other tourists, the pool was busy with lots of youngsters braving the cold water but there seemed enough room for us. As we made our way back to the van to get changed into our budgies it was obvious that lots of other people had the same idea and the car park was nearly full, there having been loads of room when we arrived. There is no way we were going to queue for a swim so we left.
Nearly all this part of the Queensland coast is beach, some of it has names but mostly it just secluded spots. Just out of the town of Mossman is Newell Beach, so we went to have a look at that and found just a few houses, mostly holiday homes and miles of beach. Next we went to look at Wonga Beach as we are a few K’s north of the actual village, well we looked and looked and found a few houses but the actual hub of the village is a petrol station which has an ATM machine. Once you get your money out---where do you spend it? Meanwhile back at base a whole new hoard of kids have arrived, last weeks have gone home to where ever, now we have a new lot. Half term can’t be that long can it??
