Bundaberg

Fri 4 September… As Bundaberg is only half an hours drive away we thought we would go and have a look around and do some shopping. We saw an ad in the local paper for a cheap booze outlet that we have come across a couple of times in various places in Queensland, so that was definitely worth investigating. We also thought that we may find an inter net cafĂ© to send the blog from. Another priority was to look for a camera repair shop and a book exchange, surprisingly we succeeded in every one, though the camera shop reckoned it would be cheaper to buy another camera ( which we already have ) Peter is still not convinced, he still thinks it just needs taking apart and cleaning. Having spent most of the day in Bundaberg we could honestly say it hasn’t got a lot going for it, apart from a first choice liquor store. There were a couple of interesting buildings, Maryborough had them on every corner. The river might have been interesting if we could have got near it, and the river cruise boats didn’t appear to be operating. Anyway it was mission accomplished and we didn’t feel as though we had missed a day in the sun as it’s been overcast and even looked like rain. It’s probably just as well we haven’t been on the beach as the sand flies have been particularly vicious the last couple of days or so, and we are both covered in bites and are a’scratterin’ like mad again. Tomorrow we are leaving sandfly city and moving inland.
