At the Doctors

Tues 2 September… One of the problems we have had whilst travelling is finding medical practices where we can get our prescriptions for our pills. We have Medicare cards which entitles us to reciprocal treatment, though we have always had to pay and then claim some of the cost back. Today we backed a winner. We stopped in Bundaberg to do our shopping, on our way to Moore Park just north of the town. In the Mall we spotted a surgery and as we are here for a couple of days, and both of our medications are getting a bit low, we thought we would try to make an appointment to see a doctor in the next couple of days. “ No problem” “just fill in these forms and the doctor will see you this morning” the receptionist said. Within 45 mins we had our prescriptions and what’s more we didn’t have to pay at the doctors. Something to do with the rate charged by the Doctors, who bulk bill Medicare and get paid directly. Brilliant! We then had a good deal at the bottleo and then drove on up to Moore Park beach. We were close to the beach at Woodgate but this is even closer. Not only can we hear the sea from our van, but we can see it. The park has been full for the last 3 months but now that winter is officially over all the swallows have gone south, which is a contradiction, but means the Victorians and South Australians have gone home for the summer. It leaves places like this very quiet with just travellers like us calling in, we may stay a while.
