Return to Rainbow Beach for the third time

Wed 26 August… Noosa was always on our hit list of places to visit and stay but after a brief drive round this morning we feel we haven’t missed much, one night there was probably enough. It’s very popular and of course very busy, wouldn’t like to be there in the summer. We did see enough of it due to navigational rights and lefts, finding our way out in the end.
We have come back to Rainbow Beach for the rest of the week and on the way up decided to visit a resort 40 ks away called Tin Can Bay---we have yet to find out why it’s called that. It turned out to be a little disappointing as we expected something similar to Rainbow Beach. For starters it’s a much larger town and doesn’t appear to have as nice a beach as it‘s on an estuary. The place is geared up for boaties and fisherman and has a marina full of what looked like small commercial fishing boats. There was a lot of waterfront renovation going on which looked like it should have been done sometime ago as spring starts next week. It’s a nice enough town but just seemed a bit shabby. Anyway we have seen it and we also saw Sealys Creek, another beauty spot as it says in the book. Actually it was very nice but this also was under reconstruction. It’s a boardwalk to a narrow but quite deep, clear as gin, creek which boasts freshwater tropical fish though we didn’t see any. With all the noise going on from the works we weren’t likely to see much. So--it was on to Rainbow Beach where we are on the same site as last week. Handy for amenities and shops.
