Fri 31 July… Situation back to normal thank goodness. We have left the high rise behind and travelled nearly 300K’s to a tiny village at the end of a small peninsula, Rainbow Beach. The journey up was mainly motorway ( M1) and took us through Brisbane and over the enormous Brisbane River Bridge which is toll. There isn’t a cash kiosk to pay at, it’s an e-tag system which is just one more embuggerance as we have to go on line to pay it, and guess what ? Dodgy internet here. We have 3 days to pay. The last 70K’s were across country towards the coast really nice countryside though we had to go through an area which was in the process of being “ back burned”. The smoke was only just dispersing this evening.
Once we had found Rainbow beach camp site we all agreed that this is a beautiful place, though the camp is quite full. We tried to book an extra night but all the spaces are booked for Sunday night, so we will have to move on on Sunday morning. We are on the beach again and naturally the boys have been in the surf already. It’s big surf and both of them got a bit of a battering by the force of the waves. As we sit in the van and it gets dark we can hear the waves crashing onto the beach. We will be giving it our best attention tomorrow.
