On to Moonie Beach

Thurs 23 July… Left Forster at the crack of nine to follow the Pacific Highway north as far as Moonee Beach, just 13K’s on from Coffs Harbour. About 300K’s altogether. After yesterdays gloomy weather today it’s warm and sunny, just our luck to be travelling. There are so many lovely towns along this part of the N S W coast, it’s just impossible to stop and look at them all. We missed out Old Bar, Port Macquarie, and Kempsey. Macksville looked really nice but we drove through it finally stopping for lunch and a walk round Nambucca Heads. We vaguely remember being here before in 2003 as there is a boardwalk along the estuary and through the mangroves, which we walked last time. There are lots of Pelicans there and seeing them jogged our memory. Not sure if they are he same ones! Anyway we had a nice walk, and then drove on to Moonee Beach through Coffs Harbour. Coffs is a much bigger town than we remember, in fact it’s very big which will suit us as there is lots to see and do. We may be here for a few days. The van is in need of attention, one of it’s shock absorbers is not absorbing. Not surprising considering the state of the roads here in N S W and Queensland. We are taking it into a garage tomorrow to get it checked out and then we have the weekend looming, which means Australia shuts until Monday. It no hardship being here at Moonee, we are only 2 mins walk to the beach which will suit us and the boys. The campsite is very good, we just need the weather to be kind--------oh and we get 3 hours a day free WiFi!!

  1. 7kms away is the village of Sawtell. If you get time go to the headland--you will get some beautiful photos--there is a very long beach to the right in line with the rockpool.Sawtell is where we had a holiday cottage and where I have done much fishing.Think you will like it.Expectant Dad signing off and going to bed.
