Thurs 16 July… More dummy runs and recces today. We caught the river cat into Sydney and discovered that Cat doesn’t mean catamaran, but cattle! The thing was full of baying kids running up and down making a racket good job it’s only 35 min. The service itself is spot on. The wharf is a bit far away from us at our end but the Cat drops us off at Circular Quay, right between the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. As we sailed under the bridge we could see people doing the bridge walk way up above us, just tiny dots. We thought we might give that one a miss! We did the touristy bits around the Opera House and stopped to listen to a couple of Aboriginals playing their didgeridoos. Peter had to buy the C D as it’s a magic sound. We remembered listening to them when we were here in 2003 not sure if it’s the same ones but they do look familiar. We then walked around The Rocks which is the district right by the harbour and is said to be the first part of Sydney to be settled. We had a beer in the Fortune of War ( the oldest pub in Sydney) the pub we used as our local in 2003, it’s just round the corner from the hotel we were staying in. Whilst we were in the pub the famous Aussie rugby union winger David Campese paid a visit-------to the loo then left. He has a sports shop across the road.
Vanessa and the boys arrive early tomorrow, then we can do it all again, which is just as well as we forgot the camera today!!
