Fri 8 May… Being a couple of beach bums seems to suit us but having to do chores such as shopping gets in the way of things. We had to go into town to collect our mail sent from the U K and as it was our new bank cards it was rather important. While we were I town we stocked up on beer as at was on offer and had 40 bucks worth of haircuts. Then it was back up to our favourite spot on the 90 mile beach, Cable Beach. On our way back to camp we stopped for one at the Divers Tavern and got into conversation with a fellow rugby union fanatic.
Sat 9 May… When we wake up in the morning,( 7 15) and the sun is shining in a clear blue sky, there seems little else to do but head for the beach. There, we have a lie down and throw ourselves in the sea several times a day. So that’s what we do. Most days we have to go shopping for a 1 or 2 day shop, oh for a bigger fridge and a freezer!
Today there were 2 major disappointments, first we found that the sea temp had plummeted by 2 degrees, from 30 to 28 degrees though the air temperature is a constant 33 degrees each day. Secondly they closed the beach for swimming at 3 o’clock due to stingers. A guy next to us on the beach had to be taken to hospital after being stung. Don’t know what happened next as we went to the pub. Off on a day trip tomorrow.
