Sightseeing in Darwin

Sat 11th April……Not quite so hot last night, there was an electrical storm somewhere around. We could see lightening but it must have been a good way off as we didn’t hear any thunder and it didn’t rain. Got nothing planned today except a trip into Darwin and the internet café. We were in there 2 hours and have caught up with the blog and sent some photos and a couple of emails. Then we called in at Tourist Info Office to enquire about campsites between here and Broome in Western Australia. We with probably go there next for a week or 2 on the beach that is when we have seen Lichfield and Kakadu. These are all beautiful places that we have to see. As we came out of Tourist info we bumped into our friend bob and Anne who had helped us with the puncture last week. Our paths keep crossing, but they are moving on before us and so we will be following them probably through Kakadu.
We went then to a park just on the outskirts of the city where there is a boardwalk along the shoreline and a WW11 Museum. As we pulled into an empty car park we noticed different piles of broken windscreen glass , memories of Perth and my bag being stolen from Michelle’s car spring to mind. Sure enough a 4 wheel drive turns up with 4 black guys they had a quick look round and immediately drove off again. A good lesson learned from our experience in Perth. As it turned out we never found the boardwalk and we only gave the Museum a cursory glance
There was another swimmer killed by a croc 2 nights ago now everybody is paranoid about river swimming. He was an Aborigine,20, drunk, swimming in known croc infested waters at 2 am. No they are looking at a cull of crocs in a 50 mile radius of Darwin, best send for Pete Gardner and the Mull squad!
