What do on a wet Sunday in Warrnambool
Woke up to another dull, rainy morning, so spent most of the morning on the computer trying to do the blog to no avail as it failed 3 times as we tried to post them. The frustration was enormous. Peter wonders how far he can throw a laptop! By lunchtime we had given up and walked into town for a beer or two. Well it is Sunday arvo as the Aussies would say!( They call the Salvation Army--- Salvos!)First stop the R S L the equivalent on the British Legion a very nice pub on the top of an escarpment with a fantastic view out to sea and over the lakes (pestiferous exhalations) well you could if it weren't for the rain. Cheap beer. Then walked back into town to an Irish pub that looked interesting called the Sean Chai pub but we'll never know cos it was shut. Come to think of it, we never did see it open on any other day when we were in town! So, eventually found another pub on our way home called the Victoria Hotel this turned out to be a proper Irish pub with draft guinness and everything. There was even a ceilidh going on, the band, all 12, playing real diddly music. My old mate John Collins would have loved it. It brought back memories of our tours with Chesterfield R F U to Dublin, many years ago. The day turned out much better than the start and the sun even came out, briefly, fortunately we were still in the pub.Wobbled back to camp for tea and sat chatting to some new friends later over a bottle of wine.
