The day started well with Phil thanking Jane for last nights evening meal, the best omelette he ever had……….it was Spag bol! We boys must have had some schooners last night. We have moved house and are now living in a penthouse suite, well, we are upstairs! Julies daughter has arrived with hubby and small children so it made sense for them to have the ground floor unit next door to Julie, whilst us nearly able bodied folks move to a vacant unit upstairs. We will still move back down in a few days time before we flit once more into Phil and Julies unit when they head off.
We had a couple of hours in Cairns having lunch and generally recovering from last nights outing, not that Jane needed to recover, she was the only one to manage lunch.
Returning to Clifton we stopped at the vets for Barrys appointment. He has been given pills and potions, plus some very dapper long flight lookalike socks to ease the swelling around the ankles. He now looks like the typical Brit abroad with knee length socks with sandals. Oh he has the pith helmet too! Photos soon.
We had a very pleasant evening tucking into Barrys Surf Club meat raffle winnings, followed by meeting Julies daughter Sarah and husband Norm, with Glyn and Alana along. The early night we had planned came to nothing, another 1am bedtime!

The last day of a very eventful year, no idea where we will be in 12 months time, certainly Australia, but where?
Another slow start to the day, the tempo not improving much as we are gearing ourselves up for the evenings celebrations. We had a couple of beers late afternoon at Apres in Palm Cove , which is busy with holidaymakers and day-trippers from Cairns, then back to Clifton Beach for a BBQ. Phil and Julie and family went out to dinner whilst we set about a meat fest courtesy of some of Barrys meat raffle winnings.
At 9pm we went over to the beach to watch the firework display put on by Palm Cove business people. It’s about 3K up the coast and has a jetty where the firework display took place. Even at that distance it was a really good display, not quite Sydney, but hey, Palm Cove spent $10,000, Sydney spent millions.
Then it was down to the serious stuff, us, the Dunns, Glyn and Alana, Allen and Lorraine and their girls all around the Barbie having a nice time. Me Barry and Jane finished up on our penthouse balconette with some fink pizz until 3.30am
