Mon 3 August… had a day on the beach after a few odd jobs first thing, washing and phoning. It’s been wall to wall sunshine with the temp reaching at least 25 degrees, though the sea water temp doesn’t improve. Peter dug out the wet suit, fins snorkel and mask, and made a pathetic attempt at snorkelling. Within minutes he had been smacked into the rocks and he took a lump out of his finger on the coral. It was just too rough with the waves swamping his snorkel, so that plan was soon abandoned to spend the rest of the day relaxing on the beach. The boys have been creating some sort of sand sculpture which we couldn’t put a name to, but it kept them busy most of the day.
We are treating ourselves to a takeaway for tea from the beach café which is the only food outlet for approx 25K’s. We shopped for essential supplies yesterday but somehow didn’t buy any food!
