Eden

Tues 17 Feb Rained on and off all night and woke to a grey dull morning. Very depressing.Spent the morning catching up with the blog as we had a half decent connection and then went to explore Eden. There is a Whale Museum here but as we visited one in Victor Harbour we give it a miss as we reckon that one is enough. We go from one lookout point to another dodging the showers. Eden must be a very nice town but like most of the Australian coastline, it needs the sunshine. We have a look around the harbour, and buy some oysters @ $14 per dozen, a little more expensive than Ceduna ones, but equally as scrummy. Peter would really like a days game fishing, but the 2 boats advertised are moored up and don't seem to be that busy. He'll have to wait a little longer.A short hop to Quarantine Bay, not much going on there either, a boatie/fishermans harbour. We set of for the next bay down but some how miss the turning so give up and return for a beer for beer and oysters.
Wed 18 Feb Yet another wet, grey, miserable morning and it's no better anywhere along the coast of NSW. After nearly getting tangled up with the bush fires we now find that parts of the coast of NSW are flooded! We are stopping another night here in Eden and will up anchor tomorrow, provided we are not cut off by floods.
We have had a good look around Eden so today we decided to go for a drive up the Sapphire Coast, That's a laugh, more like a grey slate coast! We arrive at Bega, a country town, not a lot to see, abit of shopping and then on in the rain to the small fishing village of Tathra, which would be very pretty we think if we could see beyond the mist and rain.Went for a short walk along the wharf and got soaked. Drove back along the Sapphire Coastal tourist drive to Merimbula where we stopped at a second hand book shop and so stocked up on reading material again. The man in the shop wouldn't buy or part exchange our books as many shops do,so we now have an extensive library! Anyway we have enough to read to while away our long summer evenings under the stars or in the van listening to the rain beating down on the roof as it seems to do quite a lot!
It is now 8 30pm and it hasn't stopped raining yet. Definitely decided to implement Plan B.........We are off to look at Alice. It may take us 2 to 3 weeks to get there, and if it rains there Peter is sending for his Triple 2! Diving postponed for a bit longer!
